Spent the evening at Charlotte celebrating Uncle Scott's birthday! Margaret and Elle enjoyed collecting shells and sea glass. Abby enjoyed munching chicken nuggets coated in sand. Craig and Carter made castles and swam and a good time was had by all- followed by ice cream cake and another dip in the pool when we got back to Scott's!

Margaret's special day with Cousin Elyse

Margaret and Elyse spent a special day at the Strong National Museum of Play. Abby, Grandma Mac and I tagged along. They had a great time with the Berenstain Bears, Clifford and the characters from Sesame Street. They also enjoyed the "Wegman's" grocery store, where they can select food and check it out at a miniture cash register. But the big hit of the day was "history place" room where they played old-fashioned dress up and worked in the kitchen.

Fun at Uncle Scott's House

We stayed for several nights at Uncle Scott's house too. The kids had a great time playing on the trampoline and swimming in the pool. They also enjoyed sleeping in Carter and Elle's room and having time to hang out, ride bikes, eat pizza and popsicles and just playing, playing, playing! Craig taught Abby how to say "no" more effectively! Thanks Uncle Scott and Aunt Michele for being such wonderful hosts and putting up with three extra kids!

Fun on Lake Ontario with Grandpa Mac

In the middle of July we traveled to Rochester to visit Grandpa and Grandpa Mac and the NY cousins. Our first few days were spent at the Lake enjoying Lake Ontario. The big kids enjoyed a canoe ride and their first Jet Ski rides! We also enjoyed the hot tub, swimming and grilling out.

Fourth of July

We hosted a family 4th of July picnic this summer. Sean, Carley (and new baby Caitrin), Pops, mom and Dick all attended. We had a great day (even though the bbq wouldn't start!) and enjoyed shish-ka-bobs, corn on the cob and slip and slide with the kids. The night ended with a downpour and we huddled on the porch and watched the fireworks in the distance. A perfect day!

Father's Day

Patrick and AP celebrated Father's Day weekend together in a special way. AP was chosen to represent his soccer team in the All Star tournament in Fairfax. They won their first game- the fist Culpeper team ever to win in the tournament! They tied one and lost the third. In the meantime, Margaret picked blackberries and made corn bread for Father's Day. When the boys returned home after the tournament, we had a picnic in the yard and then went bowling. Of course- we let Patrick win!
