Abby and Mommy Day

I took Friday off to attend a meeting for Margaret's speech. (She finally qualified for speech therapy after six years of begging for her to have this service...aghh...) Anyway, I read to Abby's class while I was there and got to meet her classmates for the first time. She claims she is going to marry a boy named Micah, who has "whitish hair, like Hershey Kiss, but he's not a hamster." And she told me a girl in her class got her name changed to "Unicorn." So I had to meet them for myself! It was really cute to be in her classroom doing story time, and I hope I get to do it again some time. (She is a head taller than anyone in her class!)

After that we drove to Charlottesville and picked up bagel sandwiches at Bodo's. She had a hearing appt. in the afternoon, which went very well, thank goodness! She had failed the last three hearing tests at her pediatrician's office, but did just fine at the audiologist, so now we don't have to wonder about a hearing loss/Chairi connection. They gave her tiny ear plugs to wear at extended care and chapel so she doesn't have to worry about loud noises like kids yelling, whistles blowing or someone using a microphone. She was very pleased that her hair covers them up and she won't have to explain to other children...

We went to the Downtown Charlottesville Mall next to play on the outdoor mini-carousel that she loves.

Then we enjoyed Sweet Frogs yogurt and the hoppin' night life on Friday evening. At 6:00 we walked to a special children's performance at the historic Paramount Theatre. We saw "Sylvester and the Magic Pebble." The theatre was really fancy and it was nice to have this special time w/ her. At 7:30 we checked into UVA for her sleep study. She was so pooped by the time they got all the sensors on, that she fell asleep w/ hardly any complaints. She woke up right at 6:30 am and after a shower (had to get all the nasty glue out of her hair), was ready to hit Bodo's again! We went to Old Navy and then met everyone at the pumpkin patch. Our Abby-Mommy date was too short, but perfect! (We will hear the results of the sleep study in about two weeks... fingers crossed the Central Sleep Apnea has NOT come back, and that we won't have to do this again for a long time!)

Fall outings

Met "Abe Lincoln" at the Berkley Springs, WV Fall Festival

Enjoyed kid's crafts, tastings and beautiful weather at Taste of Culpeper.

Survived another EHE Book Fair. The kids took turns on a Friday evening being Clifford the Big Red Dog, and Abby enjoyed being his handler.

Round Hill Farm and pumpkin patch is a favorite our ours in the fall.

Graves Mountain Lodge in Syria is another weekend festival that we visit annually this time of year for hayrides, blue grass and lots and lots of apples.

Summer Trip to NY

Finally uploaded the pictures from the annual summer trip to NY the kids and I take every August. This year, we missed out on Camp Cousins, but enjoyed an exclusive stay at my dad and Carol's house on Lake Ontario. Despite having car trouble the length of our stay, it was a relaxing trip and the weather was fantastic. The kids had an absolute blast and we got to do a few things in Rochester that I've never been able to do with them before, so that was a treat. We visited the Seneca Park Zoo one day, and Genessee Country Museum another. And while we missed out on Sea Breeze and the Strong Museum this year, we met up w/ Scott and his kids twice and Margaret and I got to climb the Charlotte-Genesseo Lighthouse which was built in 1830. It was terrifying; I had no idea how scary it would be!! We also had a near-sinking in my dad's boat, which was a highlight for the kids! Looking forward to next year already...enjoy the slide show of the trip!
